Calas Galadhon
Spring in Calas Galadhon. Most people simply know the park as Calas: a group of ten regions – at times there were even thirteen. You can explore it by balloon, by CoupleBoat or on horseback along the riding trail – I tried them all.
On a black horse I rode past log cabins and signposts to the Woodcutter’s Cabin and the pavilion, then drifted in a balloon basket bearing the name Calas Galadhon over colourful woods. In between I read by the lake and enjoyed the view from an Adirondack chair on a wooden terrace. Out in the water stand a round temple on a tiny island and a rock arch with gulls circling above.
At the waterfall a stone mermaid keeps watch – for me the loveliest motif of the day. Photographed in spring 2017 on Calas Galadhon.
